Instructions:

For the fir tree marble cake, first preheat the oven to 170 °C convection oven. Grease the cake pan (Ø 20 cm).

Beat butter with 100 g sugar in a large mixing bowl until creamy. Separate the eggs and gradually add the egg yolks to the butter mixture while beating.

Cut or pluck the marzipan into small pieces and add to the dough mixture, also while mixing. Mix until a smooth dough is formed. Meanwhile, beat the egg whites with 50 g sugar until stiff.

Finally, add the sour cream to the dough and mix. Mix the flour with the baking powder. Then slowly fold the flour and egg whites into the dough in batches.

Pour half of the dough into the cake pan. Add the almonds, rum and cocoa to the other half and mix well. Then fill the mold with batter. Using a fork or wooden skewer, swirl the batter.

Bake the cake for about 40-45 minutes, until a wooden skewer inserted into the cake can be pulled out dry. Let cool. Then turn out the fir tree marble cake from the mold and dust with powdered sugar.

Preparation Tip:

If you don't have a fir tree pan, you can also bake this fir tree marble cake in any gugelhupf pan!
