For the spelt casserole, soak the spelt grains in water for one night. The next day, boil them for 10 minutes and let them swell again for 1 hour.

Boil soup, mix in spelt meal and cook until a viscous mass is formed. Mix in egg, spelt grains, cream, cheese and parsley.

Saute onion and chicken and season.

Fill a buttered casserole dish with half the grain porridge, top with chicken and fill the casserole dish with the remaining grain porridge.

Cover with butter flakes and bake the spelt casserole in a preheated oven at 200 °C for about 35 minutes.

Preparation Tip:

Spelt casserole is a wholesome and healthy meal. If you like it meatless, omit the chicken and replace with seasonal vegetables instead!
